Get in the Holiday Spirit with These Holly Jolly Piqua Area Events

Turkey Day has come and gone, and it’s finally time to turn up the Christmas carols and embrace the holiday spirit. Between the Piqua community and nearby Dayton, there are tons of celebrations and festivals to get you ready for the holidays.

We’ve gathered a few of the highlights happening around the area, so make sure you bundle up and check out a few of these fun festivities!

The Dayton Holiday Festival

A nutcracker marching band.One of the largest celebrations in the area, the Dayton Holiday Festival is a can’t-miss holiday event. Kicking off during Thanksgiving weekend, the festival features events like an annual tree lighting, a children’s parade, live music, real reindeers, a holiday village, and more.

The festival has been running since the 1970s, and it’s totally free to the public. With activities for people of all ages, it’s a fantastic way to celebrate the holidays with friends and family!

Christmas on the Green

A horse drawn carriage.For a similar celebration not far from home, check out Christmas on the Green. This Piqua event features Christmas caroling, holiday characters, live music, and activities for all ages. Plus, there will be horse-drawn carriage rides in the downtown district.

The stores downtown will be open and ready for business, so this is a great chance to both get in the holiday spirit and shop for those last few gifts you need!

Downtown Piqua Holiday Parade

A marching band. Not only does the Piqua Holiday Parade features tons of floats, marching bands, and local businesses, but Santa himself will even make an appearance. The holiday parade in Piqua is a long-time tradition and one of the most popular holiday events of the year.

Plus, stop by a little earlier in the day to cheer on the runners at the Holly Jolly 5K/10K run on Main Street!

Christkindlmarkt at Dayton Liederkranz Turner

A German Christmas marketAlthough the tradition of a Christmas Market started in Germany (hence the confusing name), Dayton has put an Ohio spin on it. The Dayton Christkindlmarkt is filled with dozens of vendors selling their wares, including things like handmade ornaments, jewelry, German collectibles, and tons of gifts.

 

There will also be a variety of authentic German food and drink, like bratwurst, cabbage rolls, German cookies, and German beers and wines.
